Sally Kent Obituary

Sally Mueller Kent, while surrounded by her family, passed away on February 16, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born December 13, 1927 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Louis Conrad Mueller and Helen (Greene) Mueller. She joined her brother, Louis Jr., and sister, Ann. Sally is survived by her three daughters: Barb (Rod) Allred, Susie (Brad) Aspell, Carolyn (Randy) Shaw, grandchildren Travis and Brett Allred, Greg, Lauren and John Aspell, Courtney Shaw and Elizabeth Eagleton, and eight great-grandchildren.

Sally was graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1946 and enrolled at the University of Oregon where she was active in Pi Beta Phi sorority, Kwama Sophomore Honorary, and Sigma Delta Pi Honorary, and was honored as Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.

After her marriage in 1949 to Robert Kent, a graduate of Oregon State University, Sally worked for one year as Society Editor of the Herald and News — an experience she fondly described as bold, given her self-proclaimed struggles with spelling and typing. Her focus turned to family life with the arrival of their three daughters. Determined to complete her education, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Oregon University.

While Bob was active in civic affairs and a partner in the Klamath Falls Creamery, Sally devoted herself to her daughters’ activities and to community service. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Altar Guild, Chapter CF of the PEO Sisterhood, Reames Golf & Country Club Women’s Auxiliary, OSU Mothers, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital Guild, AAUW, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Colonists, and the University of Oregon Museum of Art Council. She served 49 years as co-chair of the AAUW Antique Show, served on the Ross Ragland Theater planning committee, and participated in the creation of a book devoted to preserving the history of Lake of the Woods. Bob and Sally were committed to sharing their time and talents, volunteering, fundraising, chairing and entertaining for charitable events and worthy causes. Sally was athletic and skilled in snow and water skiing, tennis, a great bridge partner (or formidable opponent), loved pecan pie, antiques, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was also an accomplished artist who worked confidently across many media. Her creativity found expression in sterling silver jewelry making, pottery, oil and watercolor painting, silk screening, and sketching. Sally had a wonderful sense of style and was always dressed impeccably well. She was warm, funny and generous with her time and talents. Her quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

In retirement, Bob and Sally traveled and spent winters in Rancho Mirage, California, where they enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, concerts, tournaments and entertaining friends. Summers were spent at their beloved home at Lake of the Woods. When Bob passed away in 2012, the couple had shared 63 years of marriage, countless adventures, and a fond affection for their little brown poodles. Sally’s life was defined by devotion to family, steadfast community involvement, and a gracious spirit that left a lasting mark on Klamath Falls.
